The Greek Public Power COmpany (PPC) is divided in two functions:
a) Production and b) Distribution
The Production part in itself operates in two segments:
- ADMIE (Independent Power Transmission Operator) undertakes the role of Transmission System Operator for the Hellenic Electricity Transmission System and as such performs the duties of System operation maintenance and development so as to ensure Greece’s electricity supply in a safe, efficient and reliable manner. Although a wholly owned subsidiary of PPC S.A., ADMIE is entirely independent from its parent company in terms of its management and operation.
- LAGIE (Operator of Electricity Market) is responsible for the operation and settlement of the energy market in Greece as well as daily energy scheduling. LAGIE S.A. has become full member of the EuroPEX association, following the relevant decision of the EuroPEX General Assembly of 11th May 2012 in Vienna. Same like ADMIE, LAGIE although a wholly owned subsidiary of PPC S.A., it is entirely independent from its parent company in terms of its management and operation.
- LAGIE is financed by the PPC and is in charge of dealing with all private electricity producers such as Renewable Energy producers, including all financial and legal transactions.
